Q – Scott, what is your background and experience in hosting an event like this?
A – I live in Texas and am married with 4 kids. I’ve lived in Texas most of my life. In 1985 when I was 21 years old, I had a panic attack while attending class at Baylor University in Waco, Tx. I was a typical college kid, not exercising or eating a healthy diet. Within a few days of the panic attack, I saw a Joe Weider “Muscle and Fitness” magazine on display at the grocery store checkout. I bought that magazine, read it from cover to cover, and joined Gold’s Gym in Waco shortly after. It was “love at first lift”. I was hooked on bodybuilding.
I worked in the corporate world for 10 years as a buyer, supervisor, and finally, a distribution manager in Suwanee, Georgia. I learned a lot about working with people from all different backgrounds, accountability, budgets, and procedures. I left the corporate world in 1999 and moved back to Texas to pursue my passion, Fitness. I owned a very successful personal training business and ran a fitness boot camp with 3 locations for 8 years. In 2008, I sold my fitness boot camp business and became a strength coach, operating out of my garage gym and I have a lot of other interests in the fitness industry. I’ve hosted 2 day “fitness weekends” before, similar to this event, but geared more towards weight loss, and lifestyle changes. I love the bonding, relationship-building, sharing, and goal-setting aspects of these types of gatherings.

I stay very active and won “Austin’s Fittest Man Over 50” in 2015. I competed off and on in bodybuilding from 1988 – 2001. I worked with Austin Mayor’s Health & Fitness Council in 2007 as well as worked with “Austin Fit Magazine”. I’m interested in competing in CrossFit in the next decade of my life. I’m a collector and investor and a huge Steve Reeves fan and have the world’s largest collection of Steve’s personal items, some of which will be displayed and discussed at this event.
I’ve never had another panic attack.
