The First 2 Meals Of The Day

Back when I was getting up at 4:15 in the morning to put the gang through FullForceFitness workouts, I just had coffee prior to the workout.

Right after the FFF workout, I would have an apple and then head home to eat a regular breakfast.

My thought process was that in order to burn fat, I wanted to do the early morning workout on an empty stomach.

And that worked very well.  I don’t like to eat anything that early in the morning and if I try, I feel sick.

Fast forward.

Now that I’m up at a more reasonable hour – 6:30 or so – I make sure to have a protein drink within the first 15 minutes of awakening.  I share a little bit of this with my 9 and 6 year old boys.  They love the banana flavor.

And then coffee.

I feel great when I do this.  My body gets a great supply of protein (about 35 grams) along with vitamins and minerals.

My muscles are screaming for protein after having slept for 8 hours.

I follow the protein drink with a regular breakfast – 9 egg whites, 2 yolks, spinach, 1 oz pepper jack cheese and steel cut oats mixed with flax and cinnamon about 90 minutes later.

Currently, these are my first 2 meals of the day.
